Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease

Although I do not know of any studies that show definitively that the symptoms of CFS can be reduced by any single treatment modality, I include the condition on this website as it shares many symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (named by some as myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome [ME/CFS]) is now referred to as Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease, writes Dr. Kormaroff in his article that is available to all:  Kormaroff, A (2015) Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Real Illness: Ann Intern Med.;162(12):871-872. doi:10.7326/M15-0647. Kormaroff's references are offered at the bottom of the page.

Generally the real world issues are the challenges with activities of daily life; changes in relationships with family friends co-workers, co-students, loss of achievement, loss of goal attainment, loss of economic security, worries about raising children or dealing with elderly parents.  And of course, last but not least, the constant unpredictable symptoms.

Currently the standard medical treatments of pills are ineffective at treating SEID.  "To date, no pharmacological agent has been reliably shown to be effective in treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Management strategies are therefore primarily directed at relief of symptoms and minimizing  impediments to recovery."*****• Research paper by Oktayoglu, G. (2008) Current Pharm Des. Vol. 14(13):1274-94

Therefore, why not try some alternative methods of support and compassion and maybe even find some relief from the isolation and frustration while the doctors research more about the condition. After I suffered two bouts with Epstein-Barr,  I wanted to find out everything I could about my horrible fatigue. I have made my problem your solution, together we can give you a supportive enviroment. We can try a combination of Talk therapy, Tapping (Energy Psychology),  Self-compassion Meditation (especially helpful) Guided imagery, Gestalt experiential, Coaching and other activities to help you.
